The Jackson Casey Scholarship Awarded

FORT HUNT, Virginia, June 23, 2023 – The Fort Hunt Youth Athletic Association (FHYAA) is excited to announce the winners of the 2023 Jackson Casey Scholarship: Mary Prater and Grant Seiffert, Jr.  Ms. Prater, and Mr. Seiffert met with the Casey family as well as with Fort Hunt Youth Athletic Association leaders over the last few weeks to receive their awards.

Mary Prater is in the Class of 2023 at West Potomac High School.  She has played t-ball, basketball, and lacrosse through FHYAA and played varsity basketball at West Potomac this past winter.  Ms. Prater plans to study sports management at James Madison next year, while continuing her love of basketball on the club team.

Grant Seiffert, Jr. is also in the Class of 2023 at West Potomac High School.  He has played baseball, basketball, football, and lacrosse through FHYAA and played varsity football this past fall. Mr. Seiffert plans to study Kinesiology at Christopher Newport University next year with the hopes of becoming a Physical Therapist someday.

This scholarship program is an annual reflection of the life of Jackson Casey and the impact youth sports has on the development of young adults in the Fort Hunt community.
